Annual Report of the Planning Committee of the College Area Community Council

 

 

2003 was, like always, a busy year for the CACC and for the CACC Planning Committee.  This past year the Planning Committee was briefed on, reviewed and commented on many projects.  Finally after reviewing these projects brought well-reasoned motions before the full CACC Board.

 

Some of these issues include but are not limited to:

City Issues:

            El Cajon Boulevard repaving completed

            Many sewer and water system infrastructure repair and replacement projects

            Montezuma Road median beautification

            The traffic signal at 54th and Montezuma Road

            Crossroads Redevelopment

            College Area Redevelopment

            City of Villages

            Trolley

 

Neighborhood Issues:

            San Diego State University:

                        Parking Structure 5 completed

                        New Student Health Services Facility

 

            San Diego State University Foundation:

                        Completion of Fraternity Row

                        Elderhostel/Aztec Inn planning

                        Paseo Project planning

                        Sorority Row planning

                        Alvarado Campus Park planning

 

            Azeltine Academy:

Beginning construction on their new campus.  This new facility is on Catoctin adjacent to Montezuma Park.

 

            Church Issues:

                        College Baptist Church:

                                    Under construction to enlarge and expand their facilities

                       

Faith Presbyterian Church:

            About to commence demolition and reconstruction

 

Library Access Issues:

            Access to be or not to be from Reservoir?, Montezuma?, Mohawk?

 

            Citizen Issues:

                        Building variances, lot splits

                        Stop signs, traffic controls, speed bumps/humps

                        Utilization of all or part of Montezuma Park as an Off Leash Dog Area.
